MEET A CSU PARENT - Debbie Fratiani
Two years ago, my son Vince was all set to go to Miami University until we opened our first tuition bill. Needless to say my husband and I immediately suffered from sticker shock. We then decided that it would be a good idea to look into Cleveland State University and schedule an admissions tour.
The tour was fun and informative. The Inner Link which guides students from one end of the campus to another was surprisingly convenient. I didn't even know that something like that existed. We learned about Career Services, and my husband and I thought that it would give Vince an early start with learning what it would take to gain employment upon graduation. Career Services can hook you up with who you need to know and where you need to go to help get a leg up on career plans.
The opportunities presented to us at CSU were numerous and impressive, especially for the price. After our tour our family agreed that Vince would attend CSU. It really was a no-brainer. We were very impressed with the selection of classes, student activities and everything CSU had to offer. We had no idea all of this was in our own backyard!
My husband and I take a lot of pride in Cleveland, which is something we've passed down to our children. I know that Vince takes a lot pride in attending CSU. After graduation he has expressed a desire to make Cleveland an even better city to live, work and play.
Vince has always been a good student, but since attending CSU, he has matured into an even better student and a very responsible adult. He receives scholarship money, which helps us financially, and he's consistently honored for his academic achievements. Being a good student pays in more ways than one!
Vince commutes and takes part in on-campus activities. He tells me the events he participates in are well worth it. Everything is well planned and he always has a great time. He is always bringing home free stuff!
I have no doubt that when Vince graduates he will have a quality education under his belt and will be able to enter a career that is fulfilling. The University and the city both have a lot to offer. I am extremely proud that Vince attends CSU. Not just because it is less expensive to live at home but had he gone further away I would have missed him. His experience at CSU is preparing him with the knowledge and confidence he needs to go on and do great things for our city, and quite possibly the University as well.
