Applications are accepted throughout the year. High School students are strongly encouraged to apply for admission in the fall of their senior year or as early as possible. All students must be admitted to Cleveland State before receiving financial aid and scholarships and applying for campus housing. Review the admission requirements prior to completing the online or printed application.

Step 1

Complete Application for Undergraduate Admission

You may complete an application using one of the following methods:

  • Online
  • Download and print application (Adobe Acrobat Reader required to download application)
  • Apply to CSU using The Common Application
  • Request an application to be sent to you by calling 216.687.5411

Step 2

Include Application Fee

A nonrefundable $40 application fee is required by check or money order (made payable to Cleveland State University). Students submitting an application online may pay with Visa or MasterCard.

High School students who have limited financial resources and meet the NACAC requirements may use the NACAC Request for Application Fee Waiver Form when applying for college. Download the form.

Step 3

Obtain Official Transcripts
  • Official high school transcripts from every school attended are required. Download the high school transcript request form as a PDF here.
  • High school seniors should also include the 12th grade schedule of classes and seventh semester grades (if available).
  • Students with post-secondary course work must include college transcripts from every institution attended. Download the college transcript request form as a PDF here.
  • Students who have completed the GED should submit an official score transcript from the state in which the diploma was earned.
  • If the GED was earned in Ohio, visit the Ohio Department of Education to download the appropriate form and follow the submission instructions.
  • If the GED was earned in a state other than Ohio, visit www.acenet.edu to download the appropriate form and follow the submission instructions.
  • All paper transcripts must be submitted in an official sealed envelope.

Step 4

Obtain Official ACT or SAT Test Results

Official ACT or SAT scores are required for admission to Cleveland State. Scores appearing on your official high school transcript are acceptable. You can also request to have your test scores sent to Cleveland State directly from the testing agencies. Cleveland State's codes are:

Submit Materials and Application Fee

A complete application for admission to Cleveland State University includes:

  • Completed application
  • Official high school transcripts or GED scores
  • If postsecondary coursework was completed as a high school student, official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges and universities attended other than CSU
  • $40 application fee

Materials and fee should be submitted through one of three methods:

  • In Person: Deliver your completed application in person to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions located in the Welcome Center at Euclid Commons, room 100.

Please note that all credentials submitted in support of your application become the property of Cleveland State University and will not be released under any circumstance.

Step 6

Check Your Application Status

As an applicant, you have access to track the status of your application and to view your admission decision once it is available. This access begins as soon as you receive your CSU ID number. You will receive your CSU ID number from us via email once your application is received. If you have previously opted out of receiving emails from CSU, please contact us at 216.523.7416 or admissions@csuohio.edu to opt back in and to receive your CSU ID Number.

To check your status:

  • Log on to CampusNet using your seven digit CSU ID number.
  • Click the "Don't Know My Password" link for password setting instructions. (If you already have a password for CampusNet, please continue to use it). If you encounter technical difficulties with your password settings, please contact the CSU Call Center at 216.687.5050, and our technical team will promptly reset your password.
  • Click the "Applicant" Tab for your application status.
  • Once all of your application materials have been received, please allow one to two weeks for an admission decision to appear on the Summary page.

Step 7

Pay your Enrollment Fee and Apply for Housing if you plan to live on campus

All new freshmen entering Summer 2017 or later must pay the $120 enrollment fee in order to register for orientation and enroll. To pay your enrollment fee, log on to Campus Net. Students who meet NACAC guidelines may request to have the enrollment fee deferred. More information will be sent to admitted students by mail and email when it becomes available.

Students interested in living in CSU's residence halls should apply for housing as early as possible by completing the housing application. On-campus housing is limited and fills quickly.
