  • Step One

    Complete the application for undergraduate admission. Applications are accepted throughout the year; however, students are strongly encouraged to apply for admission in the fall of their senior year or as early as possible. All students must be admitted to Cleveland State before receiving financial aid and scholarships and applying for campus housing. You may complete an application using one of the following methods:

  • Step Two

    A nonrefundable $40 application fee* is required by check or money order (made payable to Cleveland State University). Students submitting an application online may pay with Visa or MasterCard. High school students who have limited financial resources and meet the NACAC requirements may use a NACAC Request for Application Fee Waiver when applying for college. 

    *CSU is currently waiving application fees through Fall 2024

  • Step Three

    Obtain your official transcripts. All paper transcripts must be submitted in an official sealed envelope. You are required to submit official high school transcripts from every school that you’ve attended. Download the high school transcript request form as a PDF here. Seniors should also include the 12th-grade schedule of classes and seventh-semester grades (if available). 

    Students with post-secondary coursework must include college transcripts from every institution attended. Download the college transcript request form as a PDF here

    If you completed the GED you should submit an official score transcript from the state in which the diploma was earned. If the GED was earned in Ohio, visit the Ohio Department of Education to download the appropriate form and follow the submission instructions. If the GED was earned in a state other than Ohio, visit  www.acenet.edu to download the appropriate form and follow the submission instructions.

  • Step Four

    CSU is waiving the ACT/SAT test score requirement for admission for Fall 2024. Students are welcomed but not required to submit official ACT/SAT results for their admission application. Scores appearing on your official high school transcript are acceptable. You can also request to have your test scores sent to Cleveland State directly from the testing agencies. Our codes are:

    Submit your materials and your application fee through one of two methods:

    In Person: Deliver your completed application in person to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions located in the Welcome Center at Euclid Commons, room 100.

  • Step Six

    Confirm your application for admission to Cleveland State is complete. Make sure you:

    • Complete and submit the application
    • Send your official high school transcripts or GED scores
    • Send official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges and universities you attended other than CSU (if applicable)
    • Pay your $40 application fee*

    Please note that all credentials submitted in support of your application become the property of Cleveland State University and will not be released under any circumstance.

  • Step One

    Submit your official transcripts. You must include official copies of transcripts from all institutions at which you enrolled, regardless of whether or not you earned credit. Please note:

    • If you have earned fewer than 12 semester hours of college credit, ACT or SAT test scores and a high school transcript or GED must be submitted.
    • A high school transcript, GED transcript or proof of an associate's degree is required for financial aid consideration.
    •  All paper transcripts must be submitted in an official sealed envelope.
  • Step Four

    Submit your materials and application fee through one of two methods:

  • You are a graduate student if you have successfully completed a bachelor's degree and wish to pursue a master's or doctoral program.

  • College Credit Plus

    Students admitted into Cleveland State University are eligible to earn college and high school credit at the same time. These students can engage with the CSU community, interact with full-time college students and university faculty, and benefit from the rigor and variety of college courses offered. College-bound students can jumpstart their college careers and reduce the cost and length of time needed to earn a bachelor's degree.

  • If you already hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) but plan to take undergraduate coursework at Cleveland State University, you should apply as a post-baccalaureate student. ​​​​​You may complete an application to CSU​​ here.
